Dear Jim,
My name is John, and I’m here to help.
First, let’s get something straight. I don’t hate you. I don’t even harbor a strong dislike for you, and I certainly wouldn’t want anyone to cause you physical harm.
My personal feelings toward you might best be described as disdain or contempt, because I have absolutely no respect for the job you do, or for your employer.
It’s nothing personal.
Recently I watched a video in which you stormed out of a press briefing in a temper tantrum. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders had just refused to declare the media is not the enemy of the American people–even though you and your colleagues have been doing a remarkable job of creating that impression for Trump voters.
The problem is that President Trump didn’t actually say what you accused him of saying–he didn’t say the media was the enemy of the American people. He specifically referred to FAKE NEWS media.
ABC News reported that on February 17, 2017, the president tweeted these exact words:
“The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!”
My only complaint was that President Trump neglected to mention MS-NBC and The Washington Post in the same tweet, because if the shoe fits…
Horribly biased coverage by the mainstream media that favored the Democratic Party has been problematic for decades. For example, Bill Clinton inappropriately had adulterous sex in the Oval Office with a woman young enough to be his daughter. He sexually harassed several others, and even allegedly raped one woman. Yet during Bill Clinton’s presidency, the American people were told to ignore the his sexual misconduct because it was his private life. Hillary Clinton led the efforts to destroy the lives and reputations of her husband’s accusers. But now we’re supposed to care that Trump allegedly had a consensual one-night stand with a stripper/porn star calling herself Stormy Daniels?
Are you really that oblivious to your own hypocrisy and political bias? Please allow me to explain why the popularity of the media is at an all-time low, according to pollsters. The problem is that CNN is so biased against President Trump and conservatives that your network could be confused with the public relations wing of the Democratic Party. Do you have any idea what I’m talking about?
Remember Cindy Sheehan? Try this experiment: type “Cindy Sheehan” + Iraq into the Google search engine. You should get approximately 113,000 hits. Then repeat the same experiment, but this time substituting “Patricia Smith” + Benghazi as the search criteria. You’ll probably get about 12,000 hits, because that’s what I got. Why would such a discrepancy exist? Were Cindy Sheehan’s complaints valid but Patricia Smith’s invalid?
Or, was the relative lack of media interest due to the fact Sheehan constantly criticized George W. Bush and Republicans, while Smith was criticizing Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama?
According to statistical analysis, nine out of every ten media stories written about President Trump offer negative coverage. This constant negativity is in spite of the fact that for the first time in a decade, the economy is growing at more than four percent, and unemployment is under four percent. Korea isn’t at war for the first time in seventy years. President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize if he can de-nuclearize North Korea without a war.
Half of the American population give the President a positive approval rating (in spite of your worst efforts) trending in a positive direction.
Here’s a friendly suggestion for you, Jim…if you don’t want Trump voters to despise your network, you might want to speak to your colleague Wolf Blitzer and let him know that the optics are pretty bad when he’s shown on camera sipping champagne and dancing at the Democratic Party national convention, as if he was celebrating Hillary Clinton’s nomination.
It looks, well…partisan.
And if any doubt remains whether the media elite favor one political party over another, just watch the video below. It should eliminate any doubts that you and other factions in the liberal media elite are heavily biased in favor of socialism and Big Government, and opposed to free-market capitalism.
Compare reactions to the election of President Trump with the softball questions and fawning admiration that President Obama received during his administration. Notice the difference?
I certainly do.
And now here you are, complaining to Brooke Baldwin that you’re sick of Trump voters perceiving you to be the enemy of the American people while simultaneously calling President Trump a liar in the same breath. Cry me a river, why don’t you?
Not only did President Obama intentionally deceive the American people (remember if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor?), his lies were important. Benghazi was a terrorist attack, not a spontaneous protest of an internet video, as President Obama and his minions claimed. Where the hell were all your tough questions directed at the previous administration?
Did you ever call President Obama a liar, Jim? I don’t think so.
It seems that you have a clear double standard that depends on the party affiliation of the current occupant of the White House.
Do you honestly believe President Trump’s supporters only chanted “CNN sucks!” because he labeled your network fake news? Have you considered the possibility that Trump supporters didn’t appreciate being called stupid by an overpaid, overrated elitist reporter like you?
I don’t take it personally, though. In fact, I like being underestimated. Let’s just say if Wolf Blitzer represents the best of CNN, I’m pretty sure that I can take the best shot you’ve got.
This may upset you to know, but I think it’s important that you understand the crucial role you have played in converting me from “can’t we find anybody else?” to an ardent supporter of President Trump. I didn’t cast a vote for President Trump until my only other choice was Hillary Clinton, but since his election I’ve been thrilled by his accomplishments. The unprecedented bias of the media only strengthens my support.
You call him a liar, but from my perspective, he’s been trying to keep all his most important campaign promises, and hasn’t failed for lack of trying. You say you’re tired of all the negativity: “It is not right. It is not fair. It is not just. It is un-American to call the press the enemy of the people.”
My best advice is this: if you don’t want to be perceived to be an enemy of the American people, then stop acting like one. Don’t let your bias show. If you don’t want to get heckled and booed at a Trump rally, try being a fair and impartial journalist for once in your life, instead of acting like a covert operative of the Democratic Party.
And if you can’t be fair and impartial, you might want to consider a new line of work. However, if you think Trump supporters like me are the problem, Jim, I’ve got some really bad news for you.
Are you familiar with the #WalkAway movement?
Brandon Straka’s message has already resonated with hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people, and his movement grows exponentially by the day. Regular, ordinary Americans like me who want to see Trump successfully drain the D.C. swamp are recording videos and posting them on Facebook. These are not Russian spies as some have claimed, but patriotic Americans. People who want America to be safe and prosperous.
Most of the anger and the unprovoked violence is coming from BAMN and antifa protestors, not TEA Party types or Trump voters. The attacks were mostly happening at Trump rallies when conservative attendees were attacked by liberal protestors. The #WalkAway movement is walking away from the violence and the hate that the media foment with their constantly negative reporting. President Trump didn’t have to tell us what we already knew.
CNN sucks. And your lousy, biased reporting is one of the main reasons.
Warmest Regards, John
